Top 50 Songs of 2010
Our tune “Down the Tracks” came in at #37 on Merry Swankster‘s top 50 songs of 2010. We are honored to be among Surfer Blood, Arcade Fire, the National, and good ol’ Cee-Lo Green….. Not to mention one of our personal favorites, Justin Townes Earle. Check out the entire list and listen to some good tunes! Thanks Merry Swankster!
On a side note…. Last night’s show did not take place due to some miscommunication…. sorry if you came out to palomino for us entirely. Hopefully you enjoyed the beautiful bar! We apologize, it fell apart last minute! (we were told a 9pm slot and then it got changed to 4pm) go figure.
Happy New Year! the following is the post on merry swankster.com
The “Down the Tracks” found on the Lusitania’s MySpace page is charming enough, but it’s missing two main ingredients that make the album version so vibrant: One is the punctuating horns (provided by Wesley Hovis and James Cordova) that alternately supplement and juxtapose the melody. The other is lead singer Mike Duncan’s much improved vocal track, which sounds like he gargles Jagermeister and flosses with chicken wire before each take. In spite of its ragged edges, “Down the Tracks” shows incredible restraint, clocking in at a taught 1:24, and coming across like the theme song to some sort of badass country punk sitcom. – Randall Monty
